GreenAllies engages with, empowers, and supports students across the nation to become community leaders in environmental sustainability.
Driving environmental innovation
The GreenAllies mission is to empower and support students as they become environmental sustainability leaders. We envision a world where students lead the way to a more livable future by providing student leadership opportunities through service programs that promote a healthier, more sustainable community.
We are a rapidly growing organization trying to keep pace with a rapidly growing demand for our services. GreenAllies is looking to create the next generation of community leaders by creating moments for students to thrive. Whether it is by creating community programming led by students or developing a network where students can share best practices, GreenAllies is the one resource they can go to for support and assistance. We are backed by a strong Board of Directors looking to drive environmental innovation. We organized a national network of motivated and committed college students and community members willing to volunteer, advise and support student projects throughout the region and across the country.
Two Primary Initiatives
1. GreenAllies Network: Our national work in helping empower and support student and their sustainability efforts.
Includes student conference, national scholarship program, traveling sustainability classroom (TESS), consulting with partner schools and colleges, mentoring through our Advisory Board
2. Althouse Arboretum: Developing student leadership by designing and implementing education programs at our preserved property near Pottstown, PA.
Includes public education programs, children’s programs and camps, Low Ropes Leadership development programs, internship opportunities, and land preservation projects
How the Foundation is Structured
The Foundation is composed of several critical components that must work together efficiently.

The Executive Director: Ken Hamilton
Ken is an award-winning environmental educator and community leader. He has been recognized as Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Environmental Educator and has been invited to the White House for the EPA’s Presidential Environmental Youth Awards for his environmental work with students. Ken has a Masters Degree in Environmental Education and is National Board Certified in Youth Science Education. He started his career as a teacher where he founded the multi-national award-winning student group called SAVE. He then went on to create the nonprofit GreenAllies and has built a national organization to empower and support students as they become environmental sustainability leaders. The success comes from a service-learning strategy that unleashes the creativity of students by empowering them to be the leaders of their communities. His technique has yielded some of the most successful student projects in the country and has been used to inspire others on how we can all move forward together toward a more sustainable world.
