Empowering Students to Lead

Student Leadership. Sustainable Communities.  National Impact

Our Mission

The GreenAllies mission is to empower and support students as they become environmental sustainability leaders. We envision a world where students lead the way to a more livable future by providing student leadership opportunities through service programs that promote a healthier, more sustainable community.

GreenAllies has received Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Environmental Education Program from the PA Association of Environmental Educators.  We are excited and honored to be recognized for all the hard work of the student members of GreenAllies.  The  award  “recognizes  an  exemplary  or  innovative  environmental  education  program  that could serve  as  a model  of  excellence  for  educators  throughout  the  Commonwealth  of  PA”

GreenAllies Wins PA Governors Award for Environmental Excellence!

The PA Environmental Council, together with the PA Department of Environmental Protection, just gave its highest state-wide honor to our very own Althouse Arboretum, showcasing the ability of the student-led Green Allies to work collaboratively with our Township to preserve and protect Pennsylvania’s natural resources.
The Arboretum was created through an agreement between Upper Pottsgrove Township and the Althouse family. They wished to see their grandparents’ property – where they had enjoyed so many childhood adventures – permanently preserved as an outdoor activity center focused on environmental stewardship.
Ken Hamilton, the Executive Director of Green Allies, commented on the award. “This award validates all the many hours of hard work the Green Allies students have put into the Althouse Arboretum for our community. It also recognizes the unique partnership that it takes to make this all happen between our nonprofit and Upper Pottsgrove Township.”

GreenAllies is sharing its organically grown produce with the community.  Through a partnership with Tower Health and the Pottstown Hospital, a table is set up in different communities throughout the region to distribute FREE produce.  This program is the main purpose for our Youth Grow organic farm, a small garden farm completely managed by students.
